IDN or Internationalized Domain Names:
These are domains written in local script, eg: Cyrillic (Russian, Ukrainian, Bugarian...), Japanese, Chinese etc. This affords everyone the opportunity to secure a domain in
the language of their choice. It is also helpful to business entities small and large, who wish to expand their ventures into foreign markets or target a specific locality.
IDN have been available to register
since 2000 but only recently there has been a serious effort in making them accessible to the wider public. Major obstacles have been software incompatibility and lack of browser support.
Currently, only
Firefox and Opera are IDN compatible; Internet Explorer 7 also supports IDN, but has yet to reach full market penetration, as it ony became available in November 2006 and has not yet been released in major international
markets.
We have a portfolio of over 2,000 IDN domains in 36 languages, including Japanese, Russian, German, Greek, Arabic Portuguese, Hungarian, French, etc.
